Minneapolis is a great place to be at Valentine’s day, with plenty to of places to go and things to do.

Minneapolis is a sprawling city and in fact the largest in Minnesota (and 45th largest in the US!). As with any large city, that means there are plenty of great places to eat, countless activities and events, and some truly romantic hidden spots.

If you live in the area or you’re visiting it on vacation, you have the opportunity to take advantage of the smorgasbord of things to do and see.

Here are some of the best options for 2019.

Top Activities for Valentine’s Day 2019

Here are a few of the top options.

Fogo de Chao

Fogo de Cao is a Brazilian steakhouse with a romantic and cool décor. Steak is definitely one of the foods of love, and thanks to the all-you-can-eat nature of the joint, you certainly won’t go hungry. The venue is celebrating Valentine’s this year and will be handing out complimentary dining cards to anyone who chooses to spend the evening with them.

Valentine’s Day TC 5K

But, Valentine’s day isn’t just for couples. For those that want to do something a little different to celebrate, the 5K race around Lake Nokomis is a great opportunity to see the sights, do something memorable, and perhaps even meet someone new.

You’ll be able to wear a backtag letting everyone know whether you are a ‘total catch’ or just a ‘wingman’, and when it’s all over you’ll receive a commemorative hat, a finisher’s medal, complimentary hot chocolate or coffee and a chance to mingle!

You do need to pre-register though, so don’t sit on your hands if you want to get involved.

Walk in the Park

For those looking for simpler pleasures, taking a stroll around Minnehaha Park is a great choice. You can drink in the scenery and the lush waterfalls, or rent bikes and stop off for a picnic. Another scenic locale to explore is the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.

Drink in That Skyline

For those who are just visiting, one of the very sights is the city itself and that absolutely stunning skyline.

There are several places where you can enjoy this view, whether from the Stone Arch Bridge, or Ridgeway Parkway Park. Time it just right and you can watch the sunset. For photography buffs, this is also an excellent photo op.

Dine in Style

There are a lot of beautiful and romantic restaurants scattered around Minneapolis. Three of our top picks for seeing in Valentine’s Day in style are Café and Bar Lurcat, Bar La Grassa, and Alma. The first is a stylish space that offers New American cuisine. Bar La Grassa is perfect for sharing pasta as a lively and modern Italian restaurant. And Alma provides more fine dining with a hotel attached – perfect if you just want to roll into bed afterward and stay somewhere swanky.
